YOUR HOST

Russel Wasserfall has spent a lifetime eating, writing about and photographing food. A career creative, he’s worked as a copywriter and creative director in advertising agencies, penned stories for local and international food and travel publications, and produced over twenty cookbooks.

Forays into the food service and hospitality industry have also seen him wait tables and run bars and eateries. He opened The Table at De Meye Restaurant with his chef wife in 2011, and they promptly won an Eat Out Award for Best Country Restaurant. Other restaurants followed, as did an ill-fated confectionery factory which supplied the Melissa’s group of cafes and delis.

For Russel, food isn’t just about what’s on the plate. It’s about people, places and experiences. On A Table in the Corner, he brings decades of practical knowledge to the microphone. Sitting down with food industry insiders, he digs into the realities of the business — from the joy of creating something extraordinary to the hustle behind keeping the lights on.
